The recently renovated Archaeological Museum is located in the northern part of the city, at the junction of Outskouni and Regoukou streets. The new building comprises a landmark for the city, contributing to the upgrading of its social and cultural life through its educational and recreational activities.

Its modern exhibitions on topics like Places, Works of People, and Worship and Peoples’ Memories, highlight the city’s production potential, as well as the rich – and to a large extent – unknown cultural capital of the Regional Unit of Kilkis, helping, thus, the visitor understand the crucial positioning of the region as a crossroads between the Aegean Sea and central Europe. At the same time, it constitutes a convenient starting point for the acquaintance of its visitors with the Prefecture’s significant archaeological sites, such as the Early Iron Age tumulus in Palaio Gynaikokastro, ancient Europos, and the Roman city in Palatiano at the Kroussia mountains.
