Old Schoolhouse in Goumenissa
It was built in 1894, courtesy of the local archon Thanos Zelegos, according to the inscription above the building’s main entrance. It housed the first Greek school during the Turkish occupation. The school closed down in 1970. During WWI it served – along with the adjacent church of St. George – as the French military hospital.
