Ancient cities and mines at the Κroussian mountains
The route from the city (of Kilkis) towards the northeastern part of the Regional Unit of Kilkis constitutes a pleasant surprise for the visitor. En route to the village of Cherso (in the community of Koromilia) one will come across the early Christian basilica of the 6th c. Next, going through small but hospitable villages towards the Kroussia Mts. visitors will end up in the Roman city (of Palatiano). Once there, they will be able to move through the neighborhoods of the ancient city and admire the wonderful view. 5 kms to the east, in close distance to the city of Palatiano and near the valley of Gallikos river (in the community of Vathi) the visitors have the chance to learn about ancient mine galleries, testament of a diachronic mining activity in the area.
